AFCON Qualifiers: Pinnick Gives An Update On The State Of Asaba Pitch

The Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba will host the Super Eagles Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone, and everything is being put in place to ensure the pitch is in a good condition ahead of the encounter.

The stadium hosted Super Eagles games against Egypt, Seychelles and Zimbabwe, but it received backlash from fans due to the state of the pitch.

When it was announced it would once again host a Super Eagles game, there were fears if the players will feel comfortable on the bumpy pitch.

However, the President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick have allayed such fears, saying the pitch would be relayed ahead of the clash which is set to take place on the 27th of next month.

“We are working on the pitch ahead of the game, and there won’t be any reason to complain again,” Pinnick told Sports Extra.

The NFF president also praised Delta state Governor for the support they have shown to the Super Eagles, saying they will continue to play an essential role in the Super Eagles plans.

“We appreciate Governor Okowa for the tremendous support given to the Super Eagles and by extension, the Nigeria Football Federation.

“As my Governor and father said, Delta State will begin to play a more prominent role in the programs of the NFF and the Super Eagles.”
