Victor Osimhen: Former Barcelona Ace Insists The World Has Seen Nothing Yet From Lille Goal King

The man credited with giving the Lille forward his shot at stardom, Emmanuel Amuneke, is confident that there is still so much more to come from the prolific goal-getter.

The newly appointed coach of Egyptian side Misr Lel Makkasa SC has warned the football world to be on the lookout for Victor Osimhen as the youngster is still far from his best.

Amuneke saw Osimhen’s potentials back when he was still a raw talent off the streets of Lagos and polished him till he was ready for international football.

First, the 1994 CAF African Footballer of the Year unleashed Osimhen at the 2015 African U-17 Championship which took place in Niamey, Niger. Although Nigeria only finished fourth at the tournament, Osimhen went home as the top scorer after netting four times.

The duo then led the Golden Eaglets to ultimate glory at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup held in Chile, with Osimhen yet again winning the top goalscorer award.

That starry-eyed teenager is now one of Europe’s most sought after strikers after impressive goalscoring spells with Sporting Charleroi and, presently, Lille.

Amuneke, though, is not surprised by the 21-year-old’s burgeoning reputation, saying he has all the ingredients needed to make it to the top of the game.

“Victor is always ready to learn, and still stays humble,” said the former Barcelona winger as quoted by the New Frame.

“If he continues to stay disciplined and grounded, I believe he can go on to play for some of Europe’s biggest clubs and make a name for himself. The world has not seen anything yet. He is still only developing.”

Meanwhile, Osimhen believes that helping his family out of poverty has given him more joy than winning the World Cup with Amuneke and the Golden Eaglets.
