Liverpool have reportedly stepped up their interest in Lille attacker Victor Osimhen as 21-year old forward continues to impress for his French club.
In an exclusive interview with Pascal Chimbonda, the ex-Tottenham defender said Man City and Liverpool are so successful because they give their managers full control over transfers. Now, the Liverpool manager has his eye on Lille attacker Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen has found the back of the net 13 times in 24 appearances for Lille this season, including 10 goals in 18 Ligue 1 games. According to the English newspaper The Express, Jurgen Klopp is determined to bring the attacker to Anfield this January.
Klopp is looking for alternatives in his striking options especially as Mohamed Salah isn’t as efficient in front of goal as he was two seasons ago. Salah has also been linked with a move to Real Madrid, and Victor Osimhen could then be the perfect replacement if the Egypt international goes to Madrid.
Lille will not be in the position to reject big-money offers next summer, but the Ligue 1 club is not interested in selling him during the January transfer window, it appears.
Lille is known for selling their best players and received €80m when they sold Pepe to Arsenal last summer. Osimhen was signed for €12m from Belgian side Charleroi in August but his value has increased following his impressive performances.
