Manchester United Agree Personal Terms With Ex-Super Eagles Goal Poacher Ighalo As Transfer Deadline Looms

The Red Devils have enjoyed a significant breakthrough in the earlier talks with the representatives of the former Nigeria international with reports suggesting that personal terms have been agreed and the deal may soon be announced.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United were close to sealing a deal to bring former Watford target man, Odion Ighalo, back to the Premier League. The 30-year-old is currently on the payroll of Chinese club, Shanghai Shenhua.

“Manchester United are in talks with Odion Ighalo’s agents. Not easy deal from Chinese club, with an high salary and with just some hours before the deadline… but #MUFC are trying.” Romano tweeted just as the transfer deadline heads towards its last few hours.

Moments later, the same man who broke the Bruno Fernandes to United story has now confirmed that things have progressed towards a positive conclusion.

“Man United have reached an agreement with Odion Ighalo on personal terms and salary. Now Man Utd are in contact with Shanghai Shenhua to find an agreement – possible loan + buy option. But just 2.30 hours left before the window will be closed… time is key,” Romano wrote on his official Twitter handle.

The Old Trafford giants have been short of options in attack this term with the injury suffered by England international Marcus Rashford compounding their woes.

With the former champions delivering one unimpressive performance after another, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under severe pressure to bring in a top striker who can help his quest at Old Trafford.

Retired Super Eagles striker, Ighalo, may not be the number one pick of United’s fans to join the club, but the 2019 AFCON top scorer is no stranger to the EPL.

It is now looking increasingly likely that the former Granada star could be on his way to Old Trafford before the transfer window closes.

Ighalo is in pre-season training with Shenhua in China, but the new Chinese Super League season has been delayed due to the escalation of the Coronavirus.
