Belgian-Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers is enjoying a fine season with Heracles Almelo but, with the winter transfer season in full swing, he has refused to completely rule out a move to one of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Should one of the continent’s most successful sides offer him a once-in-a-lifetime contract, Heracles forward Dessers has confessed that he might find it hard to turn down.
However, if such offers don’t come, the Belgian-born goalscoring machine – still eligible to play for Nigeria – is more than happy to continue his stay at Heracles and prove his performances are no fluke.
“If a fantastic club arrives on 31 January that is once in a lifetime, something can always happen,” Dessers told Het Belang van Limburg in quotes carried by Voetbal Belgie.
“I don’t decide that, but the club. I prefer to continue at Heracles. It is up to me to prove that the past half year was not lucky.”
The former NAC Breda star has been one of the top performers in the Eredivisie this term. With 12 goals scored and another 5 assists registered in just 18 appearances so far, the 25-year-old deservedly sits atop the goalscorers chart in the Dutch top flight.
The likes of Serie A side Cagliari are known to be monitoring Dessers’ situation in the Netherlands.
