Just days after bagging a double in QPR’s crushing 6-1 defeat of Cardiff City, Anglo-Nigerian forward Bright Osayi-Samuel was yet again among the goalscorers as the R’s thrashed Swansea City 5-1 in an FA Cup encounter at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.
In the absence of arguably their player of the season so far, Ebere Eze, QPR delivered yet another masterclass in offensive football to claim the scalp of another Welsh side.
Jordan Hugill opened the scoring for the R’s before Bright Osayi-Samuel doubled the R’s lead on the half hour mark. Hugill was then on hand to extend the Hoops advantage on the stroke of halftime.
George Byers reduced the deficit for the visitors with an hour of play gone but two further goals from Lee Wallace and Josh Scowen confirmed Queens Park Rangers’ place in the next round of the competition.
Republic of Ireland’s forward Olamide Shodipo replaced Osayi-Samuel midway into the second half for his maiden appearance of the season.
QPR have now scored 11 goals in just five days after scoring just 10 times in their 6 games in December.
Mark Warburton’s men return to league action on Saturday as the 15th-placed side travel to Brentford who sit comfortably in third with an eight-point advantage over the Hoops.
