The Gunners recent victory over Manchester United proves that they might be getting back on track under the guidance of Mikel Arteta. Arsenal haven’t had a great start to the Premier League this season, along with previous winners Manchester City.
Even though there have been promising signs for Arteta, there are still major defensive worries with injuries to Sokratis and Calum Chambers in recent games making matters worse.
Perhaps the upcoming January transfer window will be able to solve Arsenal’s critical defensive issues.
Arteta does have his eye on a particular Premier League ace who is seemingly ‘underrated’. According to recent news, Arsenal have enquired about a deal to sign Norwich City defender and Tottenham target Max Aarons. Along with the Gunners, Everton, West Ham and Spurs are all interested in signing the player.
Although it is unlikely that Aarons will switch to either of the aforementioned sides this month, there is a possibility that he could be signed and potentially loaned back to Norwich for the remainder of the season.
The 20-year-old enjoyed an amazing breakthrough season in 2018-19, making 41 appearances in the Championship as Daniel Farke’s charges won the title ahead of Sheffield United and Leeds United. Aarons’ talent, attitude and maturity have naturally brought about reported interest from suitors, and even though he penned a new five-year deal in the summer, Norwich’s struggles in the Premier League have seen him linked with other clubs this month.
Another young player that Arsenal could potentially be linked with is Bournemouth’s young defender, Nathan Ake. Although the Gunners may face some heavy competition from rivals, Chelsea, they are still eager for any potential signing and believe Ake would indeed be a great signing.
Many fans are tweeting in favour of Ake claiming:
“The good thing about Nathan Aké is that he’s left-footed. We don’t have any of those”
“…and he is used to playing in the Premier League. No adjustment period needed”.
One fan went on to say he believes Ake would be a ‘monster’ once mentored by Arteta. However, there is mixed speculation regarding Ake. Many also believe his height is an issue.
“Another Problem at arsenal is height. Ake is too short. Look at Demiral and Gabriel Maghaeles”.
