The former Super Eagles star signed for the Gunners 21-years ago today, and many are celebrating his legacy.
On Wednesday, Arsenal celebrated the 21st anniversary of signing Nwankwo Kanu from Serie A side Inter Milan. The two-time CAF African Footballer of the Year joined the English club for about £4.15 million on January 15, 1999.
Kanu went on to score 54 league goals and provided 29 assists on the way to winning over a century games for then-manager Arsene Wenger’s side.
Arsenal took to Twitter to mark the special day with a video of Kanu’s best five goals scored at the club.
The English Premier League also recognized one of its past heroes by tweeting Kanu’s most notable stats.
Fans of the Owerri-born forward were not left out as many shared their fondest memory of Kanu on a football pitch.
During his time with the Gunners, Nwankwo Kanu won two Premier League titles, two FA Cups and one FA Community Shield.
