The Super Eagles striker saw action for just 23 minutes but it was enough time to set Les Dogues on the path to a 0-3 victory over AS Monaco in the Round of 16 of the Coupe de la Ligue on Tuesday night.
A Victor Osimhen opener and a brilliant brace off the boots of substitute Loic Remy helped Lille overpower the Principality Club at the Stade Louis II.
It took Osimhen only 19 minutes to make his mark in his first ever appearance in the competition, as he opened the scoring with an expert finish from a difficult angle.

That was the 20-year-old’s 12th goal in 21 starts across all competitions for Christophe Galtier’s side. The former Sporting Charleroi striker has already registered 9 Ligue 1 goals and two other strikes in the UEFA Champions League this term.
The night soon turned gloomy for the Nigeria international just four minutes after breaking the deadlock. He was substituted and taken immediately afterwards to the hospital after he complained of chest pain and dizziness.
His replacement Loïc Rémy then pounced on a defensive error to finish in style and hand the visitors their second goal of the night on the stroke of halftime.
Algeria’s Islam Slimani had the chance to reduce the deficit ten minutes after the interval when the hosts were awarded a penalty kick. But the striker, on loan from Leicester City, had his kick brilliantly saved by Leo Jardim in the Lille goal.
Coach Leonardo Jardim then hauled off Cesc Fabregas and Slimani and sent on Jovetic and Ben Yedder in an attempt to revitalize the sluggish hosts, but Monaco failed to be inspired.
Loic Remy then added his second of the night four minutes to the end as a tenacious Lille secured a famous victory over Monaco to book their ticket to the quarterfinals of the competition.
