Chelsea striker, Tammy Abraham has disclosed that he has not entirely shut the door on possibly playing for the Super Eagles.
Tammy, who is currently joint-top goalscorer alongside Sergio Aguero on six goals, netted a hattrick in Chelsea’s 5-2 win against Wolves in Saturday’s Premier League.
The former England youth international has represented the Three Lions twice in an international friendly but can still switch allegiances to the Nigerian national team, having not featured in a competitive fixture for England
Abraham represented England at Under 18, Under 19 and Under 21 levels, winning the Toulon Tournament with the latter age group, but he is no longer eligible to play youth international football.
He told Goal that he’s still keeping his options open on who to play for at the international football. ‘Yes, I have heard the talk. I have not really been focused on that yet. ‘I think when the time comes, the times comes. It is about focusing on Chelsea and hopefully scoring goals and getting victories.
‘We never know. You can never say never, whatever comes first really. I just have to keep full focus on Chelsea.
With the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Squirrels of Benin slated for November, it is still not known whether Tammy would honour Nigeria’s invitation if Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr invites him.
