France female referee, Stephanie Frappart has revealed that she’s prepared to handle the pressure that comes with officiating the UEFA Super Cup clash between Chelsea and Liverpool at Istanbul.
Frappart will become the first female referee to officiate a major UEFA men’s game in history on Wednesday after a successful stint in Ligue 1 games.
She also part of the officiating team at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup and officiated the final of the tournament.
Frenchwoman said: “I think I think we’re the same (as male referees), we have to prove technically and tactically we’re ready. I’m not afraid of that.
“This is not the first appointment for me [in men’s football], I know really the meaning of that – I think there is not a lot of difference (between men’s and women’s football) because football is the same.
“It’s the same rules so I will do the same as the women’s game. We have proved ourselves technically and physically that we are the same as the men. We are ready – e are not afraid.”
