Nigeria’s top striker scores hat trick for Barcelona

Super Falcons’ forward Asisat Oshoala was in peak form as she got off the substitute bench to net three goals for Barcelona Femeni in their 13 – 0 drubbing of AEM Lleida.

Iluis Cortes’ side handed a heavy drubbing to their opponents in their first game after the Champions League final defeat to Lyon Ladies.

The 25-year-old forward made history at the tail-end of last season after scoring in the final of the elite European club competition, becoming the first African to score in a Uefa Women’s Champions League final.

The Nigeria international was yet again in fine form as the Champions League finalists humbled AEM Lleida 13-0 to begin their pre-season training activities in style on Sunday.

Asisat Oshoala only reunited with her teammates in Spain on Wednesday after leading the Super Falcons to a second round outing at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France last June.

Other goal scorers in the one sided encounter were Mariona, who netted a hat-trick, as well as Hamraoui and Vicky Losada who both got a brace each, while Marta Torrejón, Jenni Hermoso, Graham and Bonmati Aitana all scored once.

Barcelona and Oshoala will next trade tackles with Olympic Marseille before facing her former club Arsenal on August 14, in a pre-season club-friendly ahead of the regular league season which begins on September 7.

The three-time Africa Player of the Year, who scored eight goals in 11 matches last season, will be hoping to excel this term in Spain.
