Chelsea To Take Action Against Fans Who Racially Abused Nigerian-Born Player

Chelsea have promised to take action against fans who racially abused Tammy Abraham after he missed the decisive penalty in the Blues Super Cup loss to Liverpool.

The Nigerian Born striker was subjected to online abuse after the clash with ‘Kick It Out’ saying it is unacceptable.  Manchester United duo of Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard also tweeted a message of support for the England international.

The Blues have now responded, saying they will take appropriate actions if they find out any of their fans are involved.

‘We are disgusted with the abhorrent posts we have seen on social media. Chelsea FC finds all forms of discriminatory behaviour unacceptable. ‘It has no place at this club and where there is clear evidence of Chelsea season ticket holders or members involved in such behaviour, we will take the strongest possible action against them.’

It is not the first time Chelsea will take strong action against racist fans. The club gave a permanent stadium ban to a fan who was guilty of racially abusing Raheem Sterling in a Premier League clash between the club and Man City at Stamford Bridge last season.  While five others who were also guilty of the same offence were also banned for three years.
