Chelsea legend set to run for President

Former Ivory Coast international Didier Drogba has his heart set on becoming the President of the Ivorian Football Association.

The office of the president of the Ivorian Football Federation (IFF) is currently occupied by Augustin Sidy Diallo but the former Ivory Coast captain Didier Drogba is seriously considering challenging him, according to L’Equipe.

The 41-year-old, who recently joined the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as an advisor to president Ahmad Ahmad, will pose a serious threat to the incumbent in the elections scheduled for November if he decides to join the race.

The Elephants of Ivory Coast qualified for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in style but could not make it past the group stages where they were knocked out by Algeria despite boasting players who ply their trade in some of Europe’s big leagues.

Drogba enjoyed a 12-year international career in which he garnered 105 caps and bagged 65 goals.
