Barcelona Star Mocks Ghana’s AFCON Exit

Barcelona star Kevin Prince Boateng has mocked Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations second-round exit at the hands of Tunisia last night.

The Black Stars went down on penalties to the Carthage Eagles after both sides played out a 1-1 draw in normal and extra time.

Boateng who represented Ghana at the 2010 and 2014 World Cup took to twitter to mock the Black Stars exit after he was left out of Kwesi Appiah’s squad.

The Barcelona player said on twitter “ No Prince No PRINCE no PARTY #GhanaBlackStars #afcon”

Ghana’s exit means their long wait for a continental title in over 30 years continue. The Black stars started brightly against the Carthage Eagles and thought they had the lead three minutes before half-time after former Swansea striker Andre Ayew slotted home, but his effort was ruled out for handball.

The second half began with Ghana still dominating proceedings but it was Tunisia that broke the deadlock against the run of play.  The Carthage Eagles opened scoring through Taha Khenissi following a brilliant pull back from Wajdi Kechrida.

Tunisia were heading for a normal time victory until substitute Rami Bedoui headed in past his own goalkeeper from a Ghana freekick to send the game to extra time.

Both sides had chances to win it in the next 30 minutes but neither could find a way through. The game went to the dreaded penalty shoot-out and it was Tunisia who came out victorious to knock out Ghana for the first time in AFCON history.
