Liverpool aim for victory against Southampton today

High-flying Liverpool will be hoping to overtake Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table as the reds confront Southampton in Friday’s encounter at the Saint Mary’s Stadium.

Jurgen Klopp knows his team must ensure they win tonight’s game in order to continue to keep pace with the Citizens, who are on 80 points against Liverpool’s 79 points.

With an eye in next week Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League tie against FC Porto, there are fears that Klopp may want to prioritise the Champions League title ahead of the Premier League title.

However, the team would bank on the trio of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firminho to should the goal scoring responsibilities against a Southampton side that would be hoping to create an upset at home.
