Mikel’s Tianjin Teda remain in China topflight as Ighalo’s Changchun Yatai is relegated

Super Eagles captain and midfielder, Mikel Obi will remain in the top flight of the Chinese Super League for next season after his team narrowly survived relegation in the last fixture at the weekend.

Mikel, who was absent in the team due to injury, watched from the stand as his Chinese club were beaten 5-1 away by Guangzhou Evergrande at the Tianhe Stadium.

The defeat means Tianjin Teda finish the league on 14th position with 32 points.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo was unlucky as his team Changchun Yatai lost 2-0 to Dalian Yifang to confirm their relegation from the topflight football.

Despite scoring 22 goals in all competitions for his club this season, Ighalo will be left to decide his net point of action or remain with the club to play second division football next season.
