Lionel Messi speaks on Argentina’s World Cup chances

Lionel Messi has had a hard-hitting time even as he plays for Argentina.

Messi has not been able to win in three finals with his country including the 2014 World Cup final and has over and over again found his international heartbreak too hard to take.

In club football, there is nothing that Messi has not won and he is debatably soccer’s greatest player ever.

Messi is completely desperate to win his first international tournament at this year’s World Cup and this could also be his final.

Argentina haven’t been able to win the World Cup since 1986 and with a squad as strong as the one they are taking to Russia, the moment for them to retain their title I now!

Oddly, the Argentinians struggled to qualify for the World Cup but now that they are in, they will do all within their strength to lay their hands on the trophy.

Here is Messi speaking on Argentina’s chances when he spoke with Argentinean TV channel El Trece:

“I would change a Barcelona title for one with the national team.

“Winning a title with Argentina would be something unique.”

“I have great faith in this group, we are working very well, we have players with a lot of capacity and experience.”

“We do not have to throw out the message that we are going to become World Champions because we are the best because, in reality, it’s not like that.”

Messi agreed to the fact that there are superior teams than Argentina such as Germany, Brazil and Spain, the last of whom beat Argentina 6-1 in the last international game.

Argentina have been placed in Group D along with Iceland, Croatia and Nigeria.

The two-time Champions are projected to top the group but it is going to be a real challenge if they hope to go all the way and win the trophy.

Do you see Argentina winning the 2018 World Cup?
