Super Eagles Beat Libya 1-0, Target Maximum Point Against Equatorial Guinea

By Augustine Akhilomen

Super Eagles ensure they will be going into their last group match against Equatorial Guinea on Tuesday with the aim to pick a point or maximum point after defeating Libya 1-0 at the Tanger Stadium on Friday to revive their chances of qualifying to the knockout stages of the competition.

It was an encounter the Super Eagles needed to put themselves back on track in the group after drawing 0-0 against Rwanda in their opening match.

The team tutored by Salisu Yusuf began the game on a sloppy note as they failed to create any glaring opportunities in the first half.

However, the second half brought some spark from the team as they went in search of that needed goal, which later came in the 79th minutes through Sunday Faleye after he calmly lashed on Osas Okoro’s corner kick.

The victory puts Nigeria on four points and will now face Equatorial Guinea in their final group fixture, knowing that a win or draw will be enough to book their place in the quarter-final of the CHAN tournament.
