MFM FC striker, Stephen Odey believes with hardwork and total commitment to his game, he will soon earn call-up to the Super Eagles.
Despite not getting an invitation from the technical crew of the Super Eagles for the international friendly game against Senegal in London, where the encounter ended 1-1, the Nigeria Professional Football League top scorer with 13 goals has become a house hold name for the Lagos based club.
He told Soccernet.com.ng at the Agege Stadium after the team’s 3-0 whitewashing of El Kanemi Warriors in a week 18 of the NPFL fixture on Sunday that he’s focused on working hard to earn a call up to the Super Eagles.
“I am not basically worried that I have not been invited into the senior national team. The truth is, I am so delighted that the technical adviser of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr was at the stands to watch me and the rest of the NPFL stars play today (Sunday). It’s a big relief for me regardless of the fact that I fail to score a goal but at least I made my presence felt in the team, of which I know the coach too will be impressed with my performance,” Odey told Soccernet.com.ng
“What is paramount for me now is to work harder and remain committed to my game because that’s the only way I can achieve my purpose to play in the senior national team. I am not in a rush even though it’s my wish the don the green and white colours of the Super Eagles. However, with time I will be part of them considering the fact that the CHAN qualifying campaign will kick-start soon,” he said.
