Title-winning coach Imama Amapakabo has signed a new two-year deal at Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions Enugu Rangers despite being linked with clubs like Kano Pillars and Gombe United FC respectively.
He was first appointed interim head coach of Rangers during the 2014/15 season after the dismissal of Kelechi Emeteole due to poor results and subsequently led the team to 12th place before he was handed the job on a permanent basis before the start of the just concluded season.
Also confirming the contract renewal, acting Rangers chairman Steve Oruruo said: “He has renewed his contract with Rangers by the grace of God.”
A delighted club media officer Foster Chime also confirmed the news on Thursday. In his words, Chime said: “Coach Imama has agreed to continue as our head coach next season. We are happy he has decided to stay with us and we hope to achieve something greater next season,” he concluded.
