Ahmed Musa completes £18m Leicester City move

Premier League champions, Leicester City have signed Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa from CSKA Moscow for £18 million, subject to Premier League and FA approval.

The Nigeria international signed a four-year deal with the Premier League champions to become the club’s fourth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Nampalys Mendy, Ron-Robert Zieler and Luis Hernandez.

After the deal was confirmed Musa declared his delight at moving to the King Power Stadium.“I feel very happy joining Leicester City, for me it’s one of the best clubs and I feel very happy,” Musa told the club’s website.

“I joined because it’s one ofthe best clubs in the Premier League and they are like a family. That’s why I joined Leicester City and I’m very excited.

“I look forward to seeing the fans in the new season and I will do my best to make them happy.”

The striker scored 13 goals and assisted another five for CSKA in 30 Russian Premier League appearances during the 2015-16 season – his most prolific campaign for Leonid Slutsky’s side since his arrival from Dutch side VVV-Venlo in 2012.

Leicester tried and failed to sign Musa in January but have remained on his trail. The 23-year-old hasbeen at a CSKA training camp at an army base, 10 miles outside Moscow, and trained with his team-mates on Saturday but did not take part in a practice match against FC Yenisey Krasnoyarsk on Sunday.

Musa, who can play as a winger or a striker, has scored 54 goals in 168 games for the Russian club, making his international debut against Madagascar in September 2010.

The Nigerian has scored 11 times in 58 appearances for his country, including two goals in the Super Eagles’ 3-2 defeat to Argentina at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.‎
