Gaitan who was crucial to Banfica’s double triumph in 2015/2016 making 37 appearances will join the UEFA Champions League runners-up for €25 million. The player is currently with the Argentina national team participating in the ongoing Copa America tournament and will sign the contract immediately it concludes, as confirmed by Atletico Madrid’s website.

The 28-year old joined Benfica in 2010 and will be ending his 6-year tie with the Portuguese club. Benfica announced the value of the deal after Atletico Madrid confirmed the transfer. The player will fly to Spain after the Copa America tournament to finish the final parts of the deal.
