Belgium national team coach Marc Wilmots has released the team’s 24-man squad for their Euro 2016 campaign and has confirmed that Chelsea FC key man Eden Hazard will captain the national side.
Wilmots named 24 players that are joined by another seven reserves. The most captivating story about the list is the absence of Manchester City and Belgium defender Vincent Komapany who has been battling with serious reoccurring injury problems of recent with the latest coming in their UEFA Champions League semifinal second leg tie against Real Madrid where he limped off early on. His absence made it possible for Wilmots to hand the captaincy to Belgium’s best player Eden Hazard.Marseille’s Batshuyi made the list alongside Liverpool’s Christian Benteke, Origi and Atletico Madrid’s Corrasco however, Everton’s Kevin Mirrallas is among the reserve squad. FC Barcelona’s Thomas Vermaelen was also included in the squad alongside Boyata and Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld.
