Nigerian striker, Emmanuel Emenike made his debut for West Ham in their 1-0 loss to 10-man Southampton FC in their Premier League clash at the St. Mary’s Stadium on Saturday.
Emenike, who joined the Hammers on a season-long loan deal from Fenerbahce came on in the 73rd minute, replacing English forward, Michail Antonio. The 28-year-old retired Super Eagles striker was handed 18 minutes of action by West Ham manager, Slaven Billic.
Japanese centre-back, Maya Yoshida scored the only goal for Southampton nine minutes into the game.
Kenyan midfielder, Victor Wanyama got straight red in the 54th minute for a rough tackle on West Ham player in the tie. Victor Moses lasted picked the starting shirt, before making way for English striker, Andy Carroll in the 61st minute.
Emmanuel Emenike played the first half of the current season at Al Ain of Qatar on-loan from Turkish giants Fenerbahce scoring 9 goals in 16 appearances. He made the loan move to West Ham from the aforementioned Fenerbahce before the end of the January transfer window.
