Atalanta coach Gian Pero Gasperini has praised Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman following his impressive form at the club, Soccernet.ng reports.
Lookman has been a revelation since he joined Atalanta two years ago. Recall that Leipzig sold the 27-year-old forward to Atalanta for just €9.35 as he was deemed as surplus to requirements. Now, his value has skyrocketed to €55 million according to Transfermarkt.
Lookman has produced 44 goals and 23 assists for La Dea in 98 games. He really caught the eye last year, after he scored a hattrick to help Atalanta win the UEFA Europa League last season.
This season, he has started on a high, registering 12 goals and five assists in 19 games.
Following his impressive displays, Lookman won the CAF Player of the Year earlier this month, he was ranked 14th in the Balon d’Or power rankings and was shortlisted for the FIFA Player of the Year award.

Atalanta boss Gasperini has played a key role in Lookman’s success, and he has been impressed with the Super Eagles star.
“He’s [Lookman] a top player. In terms of character, there are perhaps players who have more continuity and are more solid, but that’s normal,” Gasperini said, per Sosfanta.
“Even his role is difficult. He always has to be very fit, but he has become a truly extraordinary player, among the best in Europe and the world. Because he has improved his consistency and in some ways he has started to be an important Atalanta player”.
Atalanta currently sit at the top of the Italian Serie A. Lookman will be looking to continue his impressive performances and help his side win their first-ever Serie A title.
