SoccerNet XI: Team of the week

With the return of action from various leagues in Europe following the Christmas and new year break, club football have become more intense with eye catching performance which have been thriling already in the year.

With the quality of football produced over the weekend, some Nigerians were at the peak of it with certain key performances for their respective clubs. We recognize such performance from these Nigerian exports as their performance did not go unnoticed.

We have captured these outstanding Nigerians over the weekend as our team of the week. This team of the week is organized in a 3-4-3 formation i.e three defenders,four midfield players and three attackers.

Here’s SoccerNet Nigeria’s Team of the week.

GOALKEEPER

VINCENT ENYEAMA
Vincent Enyeama was once again in action for 90 minutes for Lille Losc as they narrowly lost 1-0 to Bordeaux in the French Ligue 1. He was only beaten by Cheick Diabate in the 51minute of the match.

DEFENDERS

EFE AMBROSE
The versatile defender lasted the distance as they defeated Dundee United 4-1 away fom home courtesy of Leigh Griffiths hat-trick and Kris Commons solitary strike.

GANIU OGUNGBE
In Cyprus ex-flying Eagles defender Ganiu Ogungbe sored as his side Ethnikos Achnas defeated Ermis Aradippou 2-1.

MOSES ODUBAJO
The full back was in action for 90minutes for Hull City as they(Hull City) mauled visiting Charlton Athletic 6-0 in the Championship. He was outstanding in the heart of the defence.

MIDFIELDERS

GABRIEL REUBEN
Gabriel Reuben scored his first goal of the season for Boavista in Portiguese top flight as they thumped Victorial Setubal 4-0. He was on target in the 52nd minute of the game.

NOSAKHARE IGIEBOR
Nosa Igiebor scored for Maccabi Tel Aviv as they defeated Hapoel Ironi Akiko 3-0 in the Israel Premier League. He scored his side second goal in the 70 minute after defender Tal Ben Haim had earlier given them the lead in the 43rd minute of the match.

JOHN CHIBUIKE
John Chibuike was on target for Gaziantepsor as they defeated Kenneth Omeruo’s Kasimpasa 2-1 in the Turkish Super Lig.

ATTACKERS

JERRY MBAKOGU
Jerry Mbakogu scored his first ever Seria A goal via penalty as he propelled his clubside Capri FC to a 2-1 defeat of Sampdoria at the Stadio Alberto Braglia.

SIMEON TOCHUKWU NWANKWO(SIMMY NWANKWO)-STAR OF THE WEEK.
Simmy Nwankwo capped off a fine performance as he grabbed a brace in Portuguese Segunda Liga in the 45th and 52nd minute as his side Gil Vincente defeated Braga II by 4-1. He lasted 87 minute of the encounter and was replaced by Jonathan Toro.

JOSEPH AKPALA
The Nigerian striker was on target in the 14th minute as his side Oostende FC drew 3-3 with Waasland-Beveren in a Six goal thriller in the Belgium-Pro League. He lasted 77 minutes and was substituted by Ivorian forward Gohi Bi Cyriac.
