Bassey just joined Ajax last summer, but he seems to have formed a good relationship with the Dutch defender
Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey has sent a goodwill message to Dutch defender Jurrien Timber following his transfer to English Premier League club Arsenal, Soccernet reports.
Bassey just joined Ajax last summer from Rangers, and his partner in defence was Timber. The duo failed to strike a solid partnership last season as the Godenzonen were notorious for their lax defending last season.
Nonetheless, both players appear to have formed a good bond off the pitch, especially as Bassey always has a fun disposition.
However, both players have now been separated as Timber completed his transfer to Arsenal on Friday. The Gunners paid Ajax €22million to get the 22-year-old’s signature.
Following Timber’s transfer to Arsenal, Nigeria star Bassey posted the video of the Dutchman’s unveiling. The former Rangers man wrote, “My boy will be missed, my bro all the best, brother, God bless”.
Following Timber’s exit, Bassey could become the main man in defence for Ajax if he can improve on his game.
Nonetheless, the versatile 23-year-old Nigerian defender could still join Timber in the English Premier League, as Brighton are interested in him.
