Meanwhile, a mixed reaction has emerged in the footballing community following Osimhen’s hot chase in the market, with many comparing the two clubs.

In a section of the conversation, Osimhen has achieved more than Isak, and while some believe Osimhen is a natural-born talent.

Is Victor Osimhen A Powerhouse in Front of Goal?

Since joining Napoli in 2020, the Nigerian striker has consistently proven his worth. In the 2023-24 season, Osimhen bagged 26 goals, which earned him the Serie A Golden Boot.

He has continued his excellent form into the 2024-25 season, moving on loan from Naples to Galatasaray, where he has netted 12 goals in 16 appearances to maintain an impressive average of 0.8 goals per game in Turkey’s Süper Lig.

Not to forget that Osimhen was named African Footballer of the Year for 2023. Not only that, he is the second-leading scorer in the Super Eagles’ all-time scoring chart.

Alexander Isak: A Clinical Finisher with Vision

After his move to Newcastle United in 2022, Isak quickly adapted to Premier League football, scoring 17 goals in the 2024/2025 season.

His goal-scoring form has been integral to Newcastle’s attacking play, which earned him a reputation in England as one of the top strikers to watch.

Before joining Newcastle, Isak had a successful stint in La Liga with Real Sociedad, where his performances garnered attention from top European clubs.

Isak won the Swedish Allsvenskan Golden Boot in 2019/2020 and being part of the Borussia Dortmund squad that clinched the German Cup in 2017.

Head-to-Head Comparison

Goalscoring Ability: Osimhen is undeniably the more prolific striker in terms of raw numbers. With 26 goals in Serie A in the 2023/2024 season and a further 12 goals in the current Süper Lig campaign, he has proven himself as a clinical finisher.

On the other hand, Isak has been very effective in the Premier League with 17 goals in the 2024/2025 season, but Osimhen’s goal-scoring output is arguably higher and more consistent.

Playing style: Osimhen is more of a physical presence, with his aerial ability being key components of his game. Isak, while also physically strong, is more of a technical player, with impressive dribbling and playmaking skills. He can operate across the front line, linking up play and creating chances for others, making him more versatile in a tactical system.

Achievements: Both players have won prestigious individual awards, with Osimhen securing the African Footballer of the Year 2023, listed among the top 10 best players in the 2023 Ballon d’Or and Isak winning the Swedish Allsvenskan Golden Boot in 2020. Osimhen’s 26 goals in Serie A last season and his impact in multiple competitions give him an edge in terms of individual accolades.

International Impact: Osimhen has been an integral part of Nigeria’s national team, whereas Isak has been one of Sweden’s standout players in recent years. Osimhen’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) experience, alongside his World Cup appearances, has given him more exposure on the international stage.

Who is the Better Striker?

Both Osimhen and Isak have qualities that make them exceptional strikers. However, in terms of pure goalscoring ability, consistency, and overall impact, the Super Eagles attacker edges out Isak.

His physical attributes and aerial ability, combined with his goal-scoring record, make him a more complete striker, particularly in a direct attacking role. While Isak is certainly a talented player with great technical ability, Osimhen’s raw goal-scoring power and success in multiple top European leagues give him the upper hand.

  • Isak is better than Osihnmen right now the guy is on form. Osihnmen is not comfortable holding the ball and pearcing through defence . ones the ball is passed to him he just quickly look for some to pass to right in front of goal. Osihnmen is just comfortable using his head sometimes in front of the 18 box he heads the ball to another player that completely waste the ball he should be confident cheating the ball calming down and shoot at goal or dribble past a defender just watch him last night he was so disappointing , I have always been watching him play for gala na just struggle he day struggle . he should improve is striking skills and be more confident in front of goal take on your man...he usually do this some years back but now sometimes he looks very unprofessional . I I just wish he can find time his game and get going to be better. Isak is better for now

  • Isak is better right now. Osihnmen has been very disappointing the way he plays this days. he is not confident holding the ball or even taking on his man. He only use his head and most time not accurate. he has drop inform. sometimes back he could take on players but now ones a pass is give to him he just immediately pass the ball to the next available player in front of goal . he don't decide play any more. Most of the games he had played recently he was very woeful and wasteful in front of goal only those penalty have helped him score goals. last night was just annoying . I wish he can get better and improve .
