Jay Jay Okocha makes bold World Cup prediction about the Super Eagles

Former Super Eagles and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, Austin Jay Jay Okocha, has backed the Nigerian Football team to defy the odds and seal a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Soccernet.ng reports.

The three-time African champions started their new era under Eric Chelle with a win against Rwanda in Kigali, with the hopes of continuing their good form at home against Zimbabwe, but a late equalizer has seen their hopes of playing in the 2026 World Cup dwindle.

The Super Eagles are currently 4th in their qualifiers group, six points behind South Africa, who are primed to qualify for their first World Cup tournament since the 2010 edition.

Okocha, who represented Nigeria at three World Cups, urged the AFCON 2023 silver medallists to do all they can to win the remainder of their four qualifier games.

“If we want to give ourselves any chance of qualifying, we have to be thinking of winning all our remaining matches.

“Of course Bafana Bafana are top in the group, it will be a difficult game to play but of course we still believe that we can go there and win.

“If we want to qualify, those are the games that we need to win. I believe that we can win there, but it’s definitely not going to be easy,” the AFCON 1994 winner said in an interview with iDiski Times.
