“Everyone must be involved” – Veteran Super Eagles attacker beckons on Nigerians ahead of Rwanda fixture

Veteran Super Eagles and Kano Pillars attacker, Ahmed Musa, has called on the support of Nigerians ahead of the World Cup qualifier fixture against the Republic of Rwanda, Soccernet.ng reports.

Nigeria are currently 5th in their World Cup qualifiers Group, and need to pick up points in the games they have this month, if they’re to stand any chance of participating in the biggest football tournament next year.

Musa was a surprise inclusion in Eric Chelle’s 39-mam squad list ahead of the games against Rwanda and Zimbabwe. Although the final list isn’t out yet, the 32-year-old is a doubt. Nonetheless, he’s called on Nigerians to rally round the team.

“The important game is Rwanda. If we can get the three points from that match it’s going to be a turning point for us, but it is not just a job for the Super Eagles alone. Every Nigerian must be involved because we need their support.

“Yes, the Super Eagles are in a very difficult situation right now but we believe in our selves that we can still scale through,” the former Leicester City forward said in quotes revealed by All Africa.

“The Super Eagles cannot afford to be absent from the 2026 World Cup after we missed Qatar 2022. It is going to be a big disaster for Nigerian players not to be at the World Cup,” the Nigeria’s FIFA World Cup record goalscorer concluded.

Nigeria will play against the Amavubi of Rwanda in Kigali on Friday, 21st March before taking on Zimbabwe’s Warriors at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo four days later.

Wins for Eagles in the two games this March will earn the Super Eagles hefty six points while expecting the front runners to drop points. Victory in their upcoming games could see Nigeria claim top spot in their qualifiers group.
