KRC Genk forward Tolu Arokodare has earlier expressed his desire to don the green and white jersey of the Super Eagles, Soccernet.ng reports.
Meanwhile, the former FC Koln forward has been handed a spot in Eric Chelle’s 23-man squad for Nigeria’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
This has fulfilled his long-standing dream of representing the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Champions, and as well playing alongside Ademola Lookman, Victor Osimhen, others.
Arokodare earlier spoke highly of the Nigerian national team where he praised its attacking talent and team spirit.
The 24-year-old striker revealed his admiration for some of Nigeria’s top stars, including Osimhen and Lookman, whom he dreams of playing alongside.
Speaking exclusively to Soccernet.ng, Arokodare said:
“Osimhen! I can’t wait to play alongside him. Also, Lookman as well and everyone in general. The Super Eagles look like a close bunch of players, and it would be nice to get into that vibe and bond with them.”
Now, the 24-year-old forward has the opportunity to share the pitch with them as Nigeria looks to get back on track in the qualification campaign.
Arokodare has been a key attacking force for KRC Genk this season, netting 18 goals and providing six assists across all competitions.
In the Jupiler Pro League, he has scored 16 goals in 29 appearances, averaging a goal every 141 minutes, while also contributing two goals in five Croky Cup matches, per Transfermarkt.
Nigeria is gearing up for two crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe. The Super Eagles, currently struggling in their qualification campaign, desperately need maximum points from both fixtures to revive their hopes of making it to the global tournament.
Coach Chelle is expected to lead his team into camp soon, with the hope of handing the Nigerian Football community something to cheer for.
