“Positive feelings” – CAF POTY confident about Super Eagles under Eric Chelle

The 2024 CAF Player of the year award winner, Ademola Olajade Lookman, has revealed he has positive feelings about the Super Eagles under Eric Chelle, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 27-year-old attacker touched down Kigali on Monday, alongside William Troost-Ekong, Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina and Alex Iwobi ahead of Nigeria’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Rwanda on Friday.

After the team’s second training session, Lookman admitted he’s feeling positive about the ideas Eric Chelle has implemented among the rest of his teammates.

What Lookman said

“I’m not feeling any pressure at all. I’m just glad to be back with the squad, back with the guys. We have a big task ahead of us and we’re looking forward to it,” the former Everton man said in an interview with OJB Sports.

“We’ve have loads of meetings about how the manager wants us to play, our game plan, and aspects of how we defend and attack, so it’s all positive.

“We’re all keying into his ideas. As a group, we’ve had our second session today, and yesterday’s session went well too, so, positive feelings,” the 2024 UEFA Europa League winner concluded.

Ademola Lookman was out with an injury the last time the Super Eagles of Nigeria took on Rwanda back in November at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. Nigeria lost 2-1 to the Amavubi.

When Will Nigeria play?

Nigeria will trade tackles with Rwanda in Kigali on Friday, March 21, before returning to the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo to lock horns with Zimbabwe four days later.

The two games are must-win fixtures for the Super Eagles, who have endured a torrid start to the World Cup qualifying campaign.
