Manchester United to see off competition for Super Eagles star by making early bid

Record English Premier League Champions, Manchester United, are keen on sealing an early transfer for Super Eagles and Atalanta forward, Ademola Lookman, ahead of this summer, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 27-year-old’s career has been on the rise since he moved to Italy in 2022, peaking last season as he aided La Dea to their first-ever European trophy. On a personal level, Lookman was crowned the best African Player for 2024, and was placed 13th in the Ballon d’Or rankings.

His brilliance has seen him linked with several clubs like Liverpool, Manchester United, Atletico De Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.

This season, the Super Eagles star has been in superb form in Serie A and it makes sense that there now seems to be a queue of top clubs trying to bring him to the Premier League. The former Everton man has scored 18 goals and provided six assists across all competitions for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side this campaign.

As per Caught Offside, Manchester United are willing to enter into talks with Atalanta to sort out Lookman’s future. Gasperini’s side are demanding around €50 million to sell the Super Eagles star, and the Red Devils are comfortable with the fee.

With Marcus Rashford’s future up in the air, and Alejando Garnacho’s inconsistent performances, Ruben Amorim is keen on a versatile forward who can cut inside from the left to create chaos ahead of his first full season in charge of the English side.

While Lookman prefers to return home [England], it is unsure if the situation surrounding Manchester United will appeal to him. His current deal with Atalanta runs out in the summer of 2026, and it only makes sense that the Italian side wants him off their books this summer.
