What Ferguson said after Dessers’ late winner in Rangers vs Dundee clash

Rangers manager has showered praise on Nigerian forward Cyriel Dessers following his stoppage-time winner that sealed a thrilling 4-3 victory over Dundee FC at Dens Park on Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Scottish giants were trailing 2-1 at halftime but mounted a stunning comeback in the second half, with goals from James Tavernier, Tom Lawrence, and Dessers—who struck in the 93rd minute—ensuring all three points in a pulsating Scottish Premiership clash.

In the game, the Nigeria international took full advantage of a defensive error by Dundee’s Aaron Donnelly, pouncing on a wayward header to poke the ball past the goalkeeper and secure all points for the visitors.

Speaking after the game, the Rangers coach lauded Dessers’ work ethic and determination to improve his skills.

“He is a brilliant worker, he is brilliant to work with. He is willing to try and improve his game even at his age, which I love to see,” the manager said.

Commenting on Dessers’ earlier missed chances, Ferguson praised Trevor Carson for his brilliant saves during the game.

“You’ve got to give the goalkeeper credit—he made some brilliant saves. But at least Cyriel was getting into those positions. One thing about the big man is he keeps going right until the end, and he got his reward with the winning goal.”

Dessers’ winner kept the club firmly in the title race with 68 points — seven behind the league leaders — as the season enters its crucial final stretch.
