“Sceptical” – Arsenal transfer expert plays down Osimhen talks

Arsenal transfer expert, Charles Watts, has played down the possibility of Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen, joining Mikel Arteta’s side next summer, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 26-year-old has scored 22 goals and provided five assists in 28 games for Galatasaray this season, on loan from Napoli. With an exit on the cards this summer, the Super Eagles striker will be allowed to leave Naples for a fee of around €75M.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Paris Saint-Germain, have all been linked with Osimhen, but the player’s preferred destination is currently unknown.

Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus will be out of action till next season after suffering lengthy injuries.  As Arsenal prepare for a crucial summer transfer window, bolstering their attacking options remains a top priority.

Many have suggested Osimhen or Newcastle’s Alexander Isak to be the man to light up the Red side of North London, but Watts ruled out the possibility of Arsenal making a move for the Super Eagles star.

“I’m always a bit sceptical when I hear of links between Victor Osimhen and Arsenal.

“There was some interest in him a few years ago, but I’ve not heard anything since then to suggest the constant speculation linking the Nigerian striker with a move to North London has much merit to it.

“He’s a top striker, there’s no doubt about that, but Arsenal have others who are well ahead of him in their list of potential summer targets, if he is even on their list of targets at all,” the journalist told Caught Offside in The Daily Briefing.

Osimhen’s brilliance this season has helped Okan Buruk’s side remain at the top of the Turkish Super Lig, four points ahead of Jose Mourinho‘s Fenerbahçe.
