Arokodare pays homage to his brother’s record label, sings Ycee’s ‘Juice’ at Super Eagles initiation

Super Eagles newcomer Tolu Arokodare brought the vibes to camp during his initiation ceremony as he delivered a lively rendition of the smash hit “Juice” by Oludemilade Martin Alejo, known professionally as Ycee, Soccernet.ng reports.

For every Super Eagles invitee, it is a tradition of the squad during their dinners in camp to have you stand on a chair, introduce yourself, and sing your favourite song to entertain the rest of the squad.

The Genk striker, who recently earned a call-up to the Nigerian national team, was filmed performing the 2017 chart-topping single as part of the Super Eagles’ traditional welcome for debutants. His song choice, however, carries more than just musical significance.

Arokodare Sings Ycee’s 2017 Hit Song

During his initiation, Arokodare sang Ycee’s hit “Juice”, which was released in 2017 and featured British-Nigerian producer and artist Maleek Berry.

“Juice” became an instant classic in the Nigerian music scene in 2017, topping charts and remaining a fan favourite across the continent.

Ycee, who won The Headies’ 2015 Rookie of the Year, gained popularity with his hit song “Condo” featuring Patoranking that same year.

Is Tinny Entertainment Record Arokodare’s Brother’s Label?

Ycee’s “Juice” was released under Tinny Entertainment, owned by Timilehin Arokodare, who is closely linked to Arokodare’s family.

The Super Eagles new boy is the younger brother of Timilehin, who happens to be the CEO of the record label. On his social media account with the handle “smalltinny”, Arokodare’s debut for the Super Eagles was celebrated, among other achievements in the past.

The forward’s performance is seen as a subtle tribute to the family’s connection with the label that helped launch Ycee into stardom.
