Ademola Lookman: Fiorentina set to surpass Empoli, Napoli as Atalanta star’s favourite opponents

Ademola Lookman has enjoyed notable success against several Serie A teams, but Fiorentina has emerged as one of his favourite opponents, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Atalanta forward has been in devastating form against I Viola, contributing four goals and two assists in just six league encounters.

Alongside Empoli, Fiorentina ranks as Ademola Lookman’s most receptive opponent in Italy’s top flight, as per Transfermarkt.

The former Fulham and Everton winger has recorded six goal involvements against both clubs, netting five goals and providing one assist against Empoli while matching that tally against Fiorentina.

Lookman’s impact against Hellas Verona and Napoli is similarly impressive, with five goal contributions against each.

However, Fiorentina could soon hold the outright title as Lookman’s preferred rival.

Should Ademola Lookman find the net or register an assist in Sunday’s showdown at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, he will surpass his current record against Empoli and officially make Fiorentina his most preferred adversary in Serie A.

Ademola Lookman eyes Pato’s long-standing record

Lookman will not only be looking to boost Atalanta’s top-four hopes when they take on Fiorentina — he will also have an opportunity to etch his name in Serie A history.

The former Leicester City winger has scored in all four of his previous league appearances against Fiorentina.

If he extends that streak this weekend, he will match Alexandre Pato’s long-standing record of scoring in his first five consecutive Serie A matches against the Tuscan side.

Former AC Milan forward Pato set the record on April 10, 2011, and no player has equalled it in the three-points-per-win era. The Brazilian enjoyed a prolific spell against Fiorentina, amassing six goal contributions (five goals and one assist) in seven league meetings.

Opta statistics, as reported by Calcio Atalanta, confirm that Lookman has already been involved in six goals against Fiorentina in just four appearances.

Another goal on Sunday would see Lookman draw level with Pato, reinforcing his reputation as one of Fiorentina’s most dangerous opponents.

As Atalanta push for a Champions League spot, Lookman’s contributions will be crucial. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side currently sit in contention for European qualification, and their attacking threats will be key in securing a strong finish to the campaign.
