Nigerian international Victor Boniface and former Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi have shown their support for Kelechi Iheanacho after the striker completed his loan move to EFL Championship side Middlesbrough, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Super Eagles attacker joined Michael Carrick’s squad as his best option before the January deadline for a regular starting spot, having fallen down the pecking order in the Garcia Pimienta-managed Sevilla team, especially after the arrival of Akor Adams from Montpellier.

After 188 days with the La Liga outfit, the Nigerian forward opted for a loan move, making his return to England, where he previously played for Leicester and Manchester City.
In a post shared by Middlesbrough on their official social media, which also featured a collaboration with the EFL Championship’s page, Iheanacho was welcomed to the club.
The post, which celebrated the former Leicester City forward’s move, received widespread attention, including likes from his fellow countrymen Boniface and Mikel Obi.
Boniface, who has been making waves in Europe with his performances, and Obi, a former Super Eagles captain, both expressed their backing for Iheanacho as he embarks on this new chapter of his career.
Iheanacho, 28, brings a wealth of experience to Middlesbrough, having played for top clubs such as Manchester City, Leicester, and Sevilla. His arrival is expected to boost Middlesbrough’s attack as they push for promotion in the highly competitive Championship.
