Onuachu and Aribo’s Southampton confirms signing of ex-HB Abuja forward

Relegation-threatened Southampton has confirmed the signing of former Golden Eaglets forward Victor Udoh from Belgian Pro League side Royale Antwerp, Soccernet.ng reports.

The club has officially announced that the 20-year-old striker, who has signed a three-year deal, will continue his development with their U-21 team.

The club’s statement reads: “Southampton Football Club is pleased to confirm it has completed the transfer of attacker Victor Udoh from Royal Antwerp, subject to international clearance.”

The Nigerian attacker follows in the footsteps of players like Alhassan Yusuf and Chidera Ejuke, who have recently departed the club.

Before the January deadline, the Super Eagles-eligible forward was scheduled to undergo medical tests before a possible transfer to St. Mary’s Stadium.

“He (Udoh) arrived in England a few hours ago for his medical tests. We expect him to sign a contract for about four years. He will probably be a Southampton player before the deadline unless there are major changes. We hope he continues his development there because Southampton has an excellent history of developing young talent,” a source close to his agency, Elite Project Group Limited, said, as quoted by Africa Foot.

Having passed his medical and signed a deal before the end of the 2025 January window, the young Nigerian joins a list of Nigerian players like Paul Onuachu, Joe Aribo, and Lesley Ugochukwu who are currently donning the club’s colours.

The youngster, who impressed with Royal Antwerp II by scoring 12 goals in 21 appearances, will be aiming to make an impact in the English Premier League.
