Pre-match ritual: Osayi-Samuel vibes to Lawrence Oyor’s ‘Favour’ ahead of Fenerbahce clash

Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel set the tone for Fenerbahçe’s clash against Alanyaspor with an uplifting pre-match ritual, Soccernet.ng reports.

Ahead of the Süper Lig clash, the 27-year-old shared on his social media page vibing to Lawrence Oyor’s gospel hit “Favour”—the most streamed Nigerian song of 2025.

Oyor’s “Favour” has taken the Nigerian music scene by storm, recently surpassing 4.45 million streams on Spotify, which makes it the most streamed Nigerian song of the year so far.

The track’s growing popularity reflects the increasing love for gospel music among Nigerian fans, as well as Osayi-Samuel’s own connection to it, who is seemingly seeking divine favour ahead of the game.

Despite the spiritual boost before the game, Osayi-Samuel had limited impact during his 21-minute cameo in Fenerbahçe’s 2-0 victory over Alanyaspor.

The right-back had been benched for three consecutive matches before earning a chance to feature under José Mourinho after coming in for injured Oguz Aydin.

The fixture saw Sebastian Szymański break the deadlock with a well-placed strike in the 22nd minute of the game, while new signing Anderson Talisca sealed the win with a powerful header to ensure Fenerbahçe continued their impressive form.

Following the victory, Fenerbahce still sits second in the standings with three points behind league leaders, Galatasaray.

For Osayi-Samuel, he will be hoping to earn more minutes in upcoming matches as Fenerbahçe remains in contention for silverware this season.
