Galatasaray’s Muslera reveals reason behind Osimhen mask pose

Galatasaray goalkeeper, Fernando Muslera, has revealed reasons behind posing with Victor Osimhen’s mask after Rizespor victory, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Super Eagles attacker scored two goals, which secured all points for Okan Buruk’s men in their 2-1 victory against Rizepor at the Rize City Stadium.

Osimhen’s brace took his tally for the season to 19 goals in 24 appearances for Galatasaray, with 14 of those goals coming in just 18 Süper Lig matches.

After the game, Muslera stole the spotlight after the victory over Rizespor, as the captain was spotted celebrating the win by donning Osimhen’s signature face mask.

The goalkeeper, reflecting on why he wore Osimhen’s mask, explained that it has come in the form of gratitude for the Nigerian, who has been outstanding since his arrival at the club.

“After our fans called me, I wanted to wear Osimhen’s mask. He really puts in a lot of effort and fights every minute. He never gives up. We are all grateful to play with a player like him. We knew we would achieve something as a result of supporting him. Today, he scored the goals that brought us victory. In the second half, he allowed us to find ourselves even better and score goals very effectively from dead balls.” he said, as quoted by Fanatik.

Osimhen, who had given the mask to fans earlier, was touched by the tribute made by his teammate.

He said: “I had given my mask to celebrate with the fans at that time. I came back and saw that he had already put it on. He is a great person beyond being a captain. He is a very important person for us. He had a very important role in this victory. I will rest my voice for a while and it will get better soon. My voice will come back to itself.”

With 23 games played, Galatasaray remains top of the Super Lig table, holding a six-point advantage, with Osimhen’s vital contributions continuing to drive the team’s success this season.
