“We’re fully ready” – Nigeria’s Bamidele Yusuf fuels fireworks as Vojvodina battle Partizan in Serbian derby

Nigerian forward Bamidele Yusuf has promised Vojvodina fans a determined performance as they prepare to face fierce rivals Partizan in the Serbian Super League derby on Saturday evening, Soccernet.ng reports.

Bamidele Yusuf, 23, has been in outstanding form this season, leading Vojvodina’s attack with nine goals in 19 league appearances. His recent scoring streak—seven goals in his last five outings—makes him the key man for a side seeking their first home win over Partizan since 2023.

Earlier this season, Vojvodina held Partizan to a goalless draw away from home. However, they will take confidence from their stunning 3-2 victory in Belgrade last May—their first away win against Partizan in eight years.

Yusuf was not part of that triumph, as he was then playing for Radnički Niš, but he is now fully committed to making his mark in this fiery fixture.

Despite sitting in sixth place with 31 points—11 behind second-placed Partizan—Vojvodina will be counting on home advantage and their passionate supporters to inspire an upset.

What does Vojvodina’s Bamidele Yusuf expect against Partizan?

Yusuf has urged fans to pack the Karađorđe Stadium and create an electric atmosphere.

“I like playing derby games. I am convinced that all the boys who run out on the field will do their best to win. I hope we will have reason to celebrate on Saturday night,” said Yusuf as per Sportklub.

Acknowledging the intensity of the clash, the former Estoril forward expects a fierce contest.

“It will be an electrifying atmosphere, it’s often really tense and it’s a pleasure to play in that atmosphere. It’s the fans’ credit that we have an amazing environment for the game, and it’s up to us to make them happy. We have a very good energy within the team, I feel that at every training session. We are fully ready for the match against Partizan,” he added.

Vojvodina prepared for the second half of the season with a rigorous training camp in Antalya, and Yusuf believes the team is in prime condition.

“We did a great job in Antalya. I am very happy with what was done and there is no better feeling than when you are full of strength to continue the season. We need to transfer that to the field already from the upcoming derby game,” he stated.

With Vojvodina fans providing immense support throughout the season, Yusuf has called on them once more to rally behind the team.

“We need you. We will do everything to make you happy and celebrate together after the game,” he concluded.

Vojvodina and Partizan, along with Red Star Belgrade, are the most successful clubs in Serbian football history.

Their rivalry is not just about football—it also reflects the long-standing competition between the two largest cities in Serbia, Belgrade and Novi Sad.

As the latest chapter in this historic derby unfolds, all eyes will be on Bamidele Yusuf and his teammates as they seek to deliver a memorable performance.

The highly anticipated match kicks off at 18:30 local time.
