Victor Osimhen kicks off 2025 in style as Galatasaray claim tough win over Goztepe

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored the opener for Galatasaray in their 2-1 win over Goztepe at the Rams Park, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen ended 2024 on a strong note as he scored a brace for Galatasaray to help them claim a 5-1 win over Kayserispor. After a one-week break, he was treated to a nice welcome at the club.

Galatasaray’s first fixture of the year was against Goztepe at Rams Park, and Osimhen was named in the starting eleven.

The Lions dominated the early proceedings, and they quickly broke the deadlock from the spot. Kaan Ayhan won a penalty after he was fouled in the box.

Osimhen took responsibility and calmly slotted the ball into the center of the goal to make it 1-0 after ten minutes.

However, Galatasaray’s lead did not last, as Romulo equalized in the 27th minute to make it 1-1. Despite Galatasaray’s push for a second, the first half ended goalless.

The second half started just like the first, with Galatasaray pushing for goals. It took them 16 minutes into the half before they scored their second of the game, courtesy of Yunus Akgun.

Osimhen had 87 minutes of action before he was taken off. Before his substitution, he registered just one shot and 16 touches.

Goztepe produced a strong show in the closing embers of the game, but Galatasaray put on a solid front to ensure that it ended 2-1 after 90 minutes.
