Nottingham Forest could be tempted as Everton weigh up £33m offer for Super Eagles star

Nine-time English Premier League Champions, Everton, are looking to sign Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, before the January transfer window slams shut, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 27-year-old has largely been second-choice in the striking position at the City Ground this season, with Chris Wood banging in goals at a very high frequency.

Awoniyi joined Forest from Union Berlin in the summer of 2022, but hasn’t had a stable run of games for the two-time UEFA Champions League winners due to persistent groin problems.

As per Nottingham Post, Everton are considering making an offer for Taiwo Awoniyi as the January transfer deadline nears.

While Nuno Espirito Santo has revealed the former Mainz 05 striker still has a key role to play at the City Ground, it is without a doubt that Awoniyi wants to play more games.

With the AFCON 2025 tournament and the 2026 FIFA World Cup on the horizon, the Nigerian is hungry to compete at the highest level while scoring goals.

According to Italian outlet, Tuttosport, David Moyes’ side are seeking attacking reinforcements as Beto has been linked with a move to Torino. The Merseysiders believe a fee of around £33.5 million should be able to get the deal over the line.

Awoniyi, on the other hand, has played down transfer talks, and is ready to fight for a place in Nuno’s side, considerably due to their rise in the English top-flight this term.

“Transfers are part of football, and there will always be speculation, but my focus is entirely on Nottingham Forest. This is a team with a lot of potential and I want to be here to help achieve something special. I’m not thinking about leaving, I’m thinking about how I can contribute more to the success of this club,” the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner said in quotes revealed by Nottingham Post.

Nottingham Forest are currently third on the Premier League table, nine points behind league leaders, Liverpool. Everton on the other hand, are battling relegation in 17th place, one point above the relegation spots.
