French Ligue 1 club Nantes have named Super Eagles forward Moses Simon as the Player of the Month for December, Soccernet.ng reports.
Simon got sidelined in late December after undergoing a surgery to correct an ankle injury. But before that, he was Nantes’ best player in the first half of the campaign.
The Super Eagles star registered four goals and five assists in his first 14 games of the season for the Canaries. In December, he featured twice for Nantes, and he had a hand in the two goals they scored in Ligue 1.
Simon scored the winner for Nantes in their 1-0 win over Rennes at Stade de la Beaujoire. It was a goal that broke the internet, as he dribbled past some Rennes players and struck a wicked curler into the net.
In their second game of the month against Brest at Stade Francis-Le Ble, Simon assisted Nantes’ solitary goal in their 4-1 defeat.
Following his impressive performances, the clubs have now named him their Player of the Month for December.
The other nominees for the award were Douglas Augusto, Nicolas Cozza, and Matthis Abline. The winner was decided by votes from fans, and Simon got 44% of the votes.
The award will be presented to Simon at Stade de la Beaujoire just before Nantes’ game against Monaco on January 10.
Simon is already used to winning the Player of the Month at Nantes. He won the same award in September.
