Kelechi Iheanacho: Championship club interested in Super Eagles star

English Championship club Sheffield United are interested in signing Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho from Sevilla in the ongoing January transfer window, Soccernet.ng reports.

Iheanacho’s next destination has been one of the biggest transfer topics this January following his struggles at Sevilla.

The 28-year-old Super Eagles star joined Los Nervionenses last summer in a free transfer after his contract at Leicester City expired. Iheanacho arrived with a big reputation after registering 61 goals and 34 assists for the Foxes.

Unfortunately, he has failed to impress under the tutelage of Garcia Pimienta. Iheanacho has been used sparingly, as half of his nine league appearances have been off the bench with no goal to show. However, he has shone brightly in the Copa del Rey with three goals in just two appearances.

Due to his tough start to life, there have been speculations that Iheanacho could leave Sevilla this January amid interest from English sides like Watford and Ipswich Town. Even Panathinaikos are monitoring his situation.

Now, in a new development, according to Ekrem Konur, Sheffield United are also interested in signing the former Manchester City man. The Blades are currently second in the Championship and need reinforcements to aid their push for Premier League football.

With his wealth of experience and talent, Iheanacho could help Sheffield United if he finds his form. Sevilla would be willing to sell or loan out Iheanacho if they get a decent fee, as they want to make space for new signings.
