The 19-year-old joins Washington after two standout seasons with the University of Pittsburgh Panthers, where she made a significant impact on collegiate soccer.

In 34 appearances, Abiodun scored ten goals and provided three assists, earning her All-ACC honours in both seasons. She played a pivotal role in Pittsburgh’s historic run to the NCAA national quarterfinals during her freshman season, scoring crucial goals in the tournament.

Abiodun’s sophomore season, while hampered by injury, still showed her class as she netted four goals in just 12 appearances and earned second-team All-ACC recognition.

A key figure in the Nigerian senior women’s team, Abiodun was named to the Super Falcons’ squads for both the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Olympics, a big boost to her her reputation as one of the brightest young talents in African football.

Speaking about her move, Abiodun expressed excitement and determination:

“I’m beyond thrilled to take this next step in my career by joining Washington Spirit. This isn’t just a dream; it’s a purpose I’ve poured my heart and soul into, and I’m ready to give everything I have to the game I love.

“Especially with a team that cares about its players’ growth and development, which makes Washington Spirit a perfect team for me to achieve my purpose.”

Born in Ibadan, Nigeria, Abiodun honed her skills at Rivers Angels in the Nigerian Women Premier League before earning a scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh.
