The 36-year-old forward, who came off the bench to net Enyimba’s third goal, took to social media to celebrate the win by referencing the club’s famous chant, which signifies a fighting spirit and unity.

“Nzogbu! Nzogbu!! Enyimba Enyi!!” Ideye wrote.

The clinical finish of the 36-year-old forward in the 68th minute, where he controlled the ball, dribbled past the goalkeeper, and slotted home from a tight angle, once again reminded the Nigerian football community of the forward’s class on the pitch.

The win was inspired by a collective effort, with Joseph Atule stealing the show with a brace, including an early opener in the 6th minute after capitalising on a defensive error.

Although Ejaita Ifoni equalised for Black Bulls six minutes later, Ifeanyi Ihemekwele restored Enyimba’s lead with a stunning half-volley just before halftime. Ihemekwele’s strike was his fifth of the season.

Atule added his second and Enyimba’s fourth goal in the 90th minute, which sealed a much-needed victory in coach Stanley Eguma’s first continental match in charge.

The victory lifts Enyimba to four points, putting them level with the Black Bulls but still at the bottom of the group due to their head-to-head record.

However, their chances of advancing remain alive, as they trail second-placed Al Masry by just one point and group leaders Zamalek by three.
