AC Milan vs Parma: Samuel Chukwueze nets winner for Rossoneri in five-goal thriller

Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze got off the bench to score a late winner for AC Milan in their hard-fought 3-2 win over Parma at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Chukwueze returned to action for AC Milan when they welcomed Parma to the Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday. Recall that the Nigerian star had been out of action since the end of December when he sustained a hamstring injury in a game against AS Roma.

However, he started from the bench against Parma, who were placed 17th in the Serie A before the game. Coach Sergio Conceicao started Christian Pulisic on the right wing instead. The first 20 minutes of the first half did not see too many chances fall to both sides.

But the game sparked to life in the 24th minute when Parma scored the opener, courtesy of Matteo Cancellieri. Unfortunately, their lead did not last as Pulisic scored from the penalty spot in the 38th minute. Both teams went into the break all square.

The second half started like the first, as the Rossoneri controlled the game. However, the first 15 minutes were blunt, with both sides failing to create much.

Chukwueze was introduced into the game in the 57th minute, replacing Youssouf Fofana. AC Milan were pushing hard for the lead, leaving their backline vulnerable.

Parma took advantage and scored again in the 80th minute. However, eight minutes later, the Rossoneri scored, with Chukwueze providing an assist to Strahinja Pavlovic. Unfortunately for them, the goal was ruled out due to an offside.

Nonetheless, just four minutes later, Tijjani Reijnders scored the equaliser for the Rossoneri. It looked like the game was destined for a draw, but Chukwueze had other ideas. He capitalised on a melee in the box, and in the chaos, he nudged the ball into the net.

That goal was enough to help AC Milan run out 3-2 winners, as they won their first Serie A home game with Conceicao as coach.

Moving forward, Chukwueze’s goal might just have earned him a place in the starting eleven in the coming weeks.
